Genius & Life-Altering Fashion Tips

By guest writer Theo Dolan

Gogo and I have been trying to expand our &tost writer community, so I immediately asked my dear friend Theo Dolan to write for us. Theo is a comedian, amongst other things. Known for his passion for detailed, intricate, and ironic Amazon sweaters, Theo proves that funny people can be stylish. So welcome to the closet of mastermind Theo Dolan, as he gives life-changing advice about how he organizes what he wears using the furniture that he owns…

Theo’s Thoughts:

I am a very stylish person. This is something everyone knows about me. For real. For those of you who are curious I can explain how I organize my drawer at Wesleyan.

TOP DRAWER: Socks (I bought bulk white socks from Amazon that pull all the way up to my knees, so I can pull them up when I’m cold), Underwear, my belts, my ties, and PJ’s!

MIDDLE DRAWER:

Graphic Tees. Graphic tees are soooo in right now. Get yourself a shirt that says something funny on it. If the shirt says something funny then people will think you are funny for wearing it (life hack alert). I also have a lot of shirts I buy from stores I visit. Like my tie-dye two wrasilin cats shirt (which I wore to a concert in the bowery ballroom and got more compliments on it than any other article of clothing I have ever worn).

BOTTOM DRAWER:

Pants. I have a drawer full of pants and shorts. This is a must; pants are such a good piece to have in your wardrobe. I have mostly a lot of jeans. People point out holes in my jeans all the time, but I just call them unique destress points. (That’s an important thing to look for when thrifting for jeans).

ABOVE THE DRAWER:

Sweaters. I have sweaters for when it gets cold. I went to brooks brothers outlet with my grandpa, and he got me two sweaters from there and I wear those all the time. Because I am so fashionable, I get all these ads on Instagram for fashion companies. And I normally don’t like to buy things I get ads for… but I did. I went through the website and bought one of the sweaters that wasn’t advertised to me, so I wouldn’t look like I saw an ad. (PRO TIP: if you get an ad for something and you like it, go on the website, and buy something similar but not the same.)

HANGERS:

Nice button up shirts (I have a bunch but rarely wear them [graphic tees mostly do the trick]), jackets. My grandma gave me her old jacket and I wear it everyday. (PRO TIP: If you can, take your family’s old clothing, especially if they are as stylish as you are.)

SHOES: Crocs, (YOU GOTTA HAVE A PAIR OF THESE FR FR), sneakers (2 run down sneakers to switch between until they don’t work as shoes anymore), and my Harden Step Back 3s (my basketball shoes I wear exclusively on the court, swish)

So thanks for listening to me! I hope you take some of my tips into account, only if you want to look great.
